Water Sprinklers
Water Sprinklers
28/03/2023Regular watering is the key to a healthy, vibrant lawn. When it comes to summer lawn care, you should keep an eye on your grass to prevent drought-induced dry patches. Hot weather can harm certain types of grass. And yet, today, we face unpredictable weather as well as irrigation restrictions.
So what to do?
It is best to water the lawn in the early morning or late afternoon. Watering at night can promote fungus and mold growth. Watering in the heat of the day can be wasteful, as much of it simply evaporates before being soaked into the soil. Irrigating the lawn when the ambient temperature is moderate helps ensure that the lawn sinks into the soil.
If your yard has sloping terrain, you need to pay special attention to areas where water can pool. Oversaturated grass is especially vulnerable to lawn diseases and can also create an environment for unwanted pests to spread. Standing water attracts flies, mosquitoes and a host of fungal infections.
You also need to consider rain when it comes to watering your lawn, especially in spring and fall. If you’ve had a healthy amount of natural precipitation, it’s perfectly reasonable to reduce your watering regimen. In fact, you should, to avoid oversaturating the soil!
